ABOUT US

Huckleberry's was conceived by proprietor Richard "Boomer" McLennan after the realization that there was once again a need for the local merchantile store of yesteryear.  What happened to the ideal of the American barber shop or English gentleman's shop where one not only went for needed goods and services but also received a wealth of wisdom and knowledge just from spending some time with some fellow neighbors?

In today's fast paced life, we have lost much of the ability to enjoy some of life's greatest pleasures: writing a letter with a treasured fountain pen, conversing over a cup of coffee or tea, reflecting on the days events with a fine cigar.  (It has been noted by historians that most of the greatest men in recent history made it a priority to take part in these pastimes!)

Now these all but lost arts have been revived.  With a unending quest to provide the absolute best customer service, Huckleberry's provides inspirations to stay connected the old-fashioned way... bringing together some of the worlds finest pens, cigars, shaving goods, leather, stationery, and fine gifts.  A lounge and outdoor patio are also provided to encourage you to reflect, converse, or even do a bit of relaxed business if need be.  And, like the old days, a free  cup of coffee or tea always awaits you!

We'd love to see you whenever you are in the area.  Call any time.  Allow us to be of service to you and find you the product that will be your next treasured moment...

About our name:

Many have asked how the name Huckleberry's came into existance.  Well, ask no more; here is the definitive answer.  It is a tip of the hat to famed American author Mark Twain.  Of course he is recognized for his great skills as a writer, but Mr. Twain was also a lover of fountain pens and fine cigars and expounded on their virtures often.  (Some history buffs may argue the "fine" part about his cigars...but one man's cheap cigar is another's treasure, I suppose!  He has been quoted as saying to his best friend, a reverend, "If there are no cigars in heaven, than I shall not go!" )
